A plant or commercial floor works every day: forklifts, spills, constant washdowns and heavy foot traffic. Unprotected concrete wears down, creates dust, soaks up liquids and becomes hard to clean. That’s why more plants, warehouses and businesses across Jalisco, Guanajuato and Aguascalientes are choosing epoxy floor systems.
At Constructora Alcaraz we install resinous floors for industrial, commercial and residential clients. Here are the benefits we see on every project.
1. Wear resistance under heavy traffic
Epoxy forms a hard layer bonded to the concrete that stands up to forklifts, pallet jacks and carts. Thicker systems, such as self-leveling epoxy or epoxy mortar, also handle impacts and heavy loads without cracking.
2. Chemical resistance
Oils, fuels, solvents, mild acids and cleaning products eat away at concrete over time. A properly specified epoxy floor resists them, making it a strong fit for automotive plants, shops, tanneries, labs and chemical processing areas. We match the resin to each environment.
3. Hygiene: a seamless surface
Epoxy creates a continuous surface with no pores or joints for bacteria and dirt to collect. Adding sanitary cove base (the curve between floor and wall) removes hard-to-clean corners. This helps food and beverage, pharmaceutical and healthcare facilities meet their cleanliness requirements. See also our guide to food processing plant floors.
4. Safety for your people
We broadcast quartz or other anti-slip aggregates into wet areas, ramps and washdown zones. Safety lines, pedestrian walkways and forklift lanes can be built into the system in color, so they don’t wear off like ordinary paint.
5. Brighter spaces
A glossy epoxy finish reflects far more light than gray concrete. Plants and warehouses look brighter, visibility improves in work areas, and existing lighting goes further.
6. Less dust, less maintenance
Bare concrete sheds fine dust that settles on machinery, products and electronics. Epoxy seals the surface: cleaning is faster with a mop or floor scrubber, and the floor keeps its appearance for years with simple care.
7. Fast installation, planned around your operation
We know every day of downtime costs money. We phase the work, schedule weekends, or install during annual maintenance shutdowns (such as December or Holy Week) so your plant keeps running. Many systems allow light traffic within one or two days.
8. A professional image
A clean, uniform floor signals order and quality to customers, auditors and visitors. In stores, showrooms and restaurants, decorative finishes (solid colors, flake or metallic/marbled effects) look modern and are easy to maintain.
Which system does your floor need?
- Thin-film coating: light traffic, dry storage and warehouses.
- Multi-coat broadcast epoxy: wet areas or anywhere slip resistance matters.
- Self-leveling epoxy, 2–3 mm: production floors and commercial spaces that want a smooth, glossy finish.
- Epoxy mortar, 6 mm: heavy traffic, impact and chemical areas.
- Urethane cement: commercial kitchens and food plants with hot washdowns or thermal shock.
Preparation is everything
Most epoxy floor failures (peeling, bubbles, blotches) come from poor concrete prep. That’s why we grind or shot-blast the surface with professional equipment, repair cracks and joints, and test concrete moisture before we coat. When needed, we install a moisture barrier. A good floor starts underneath.
Fast concrete repair: keep your production line running
When a floor fails mid-production (a pothole in a forklift aisle, a broken joint, chemical-damaged concrete), there’s no time to wait weeks. We have years of experience doing high-performance concrete repair inside manufacturing plants, where shutting down the line is not an option.
- We assess on site: the damage, traffic type, chemicals and temperature in the area.
- We choose the right product for your needs: epoxy mortars, polyurethanes or rapid-cure materials.
- We work on your schedule: night shifts, weekends or short windows between shifts.
- We get the area back in service as fast as possible; many rapid-cure materials allow traffic within hours.
Featured project: Club Carrera (2005–2006)
Club Carrera (2005–2006) is a 14,000 sq ft (1,300 m²) building for collector cars. In the showroom and lounge we applied a colored alcohol-based stain system on concrete with a urethane topcoat, including the black showroom floor, with every line cut by hand. In the shop we installed an epoxy aggregate system with a urethane topcoat. The result: floors that reflect the light and the cars like a mirror, and stand up to daily vehicle traffic. Ten years after installation, the floors were still in good shape.
