The bathroom is the one room you start and end every day in. It deserves to feel like a retreat, not a row of tile and caulk. Plaster and stone are the oldest materials in bathing culture, from Roman baths to Moroccan hammams, and they still create the calmest rooms today.
Venetian plaster: seamless, soft, and calm
A plastered bathroom has no grout grid breaking up the walls. The surface flows from corner to corner in one soft, luminous finish. That alone makes a small bathroom feel larger and quieter.
We use plaster on vanity walls, around a freestanding tub, and on ceilings. With the right system, Venetian plaster can also go inside the shower itself. That takes proper waterproofing behind it, the right plaster, and a sealed, polished finish. It’s specialty work, and it’s one of the things we’re known for.
Natural stone veneer: real stone where you want impact
Natural stone veneer is real stone on a thin fiberglass backing, and products rated for wet areas can go inside the shower. It brings the texture of a stone wall without the weight of stone slabs.
Where it works best in a bath:
- The shower’s back wall. One stone wall, framed by plaster, makes the shower the room’s focal point.
- Behind the vanity. A stone panel floor to ceiling behind the mirror turns a plain vanity into a statement.
- A tub surround or niche. Stone around a soaking tub, or lining a shower niche, adds a crafted detail.
For something truly unique, there’s also translucent stone veneer. Backlit behind a vanity, it glows like a lantern.
Designing the pair
- Go light and warm on the plaster. Soft whites, creams and sand tones read clean and spa-like.
- Let the stone bring the color. A slate with rust, green or gold veins does the rest.
- Plan the wet zones first. We map where water hits and choose finishes and sealers to match, so the room looks great for years, not months.
Easier to keep clean
Fewer grout lines means less scrubbing. Sealed plaster and sealed stone both wipe down with mild, pH-neutral cleaners. We’ll give you simple care instructions when the job is done.
