Texture is the new color. For 2026, designers are moving away from flat painted walls and toward hand-applied lime marble plaster and other mineral finishes. The 2027 Colors of the Year point the same way: softer, more natural and more muted. That’s good news for anyone considering Venetian plaster, lime wash or real stone veneer.
What’s coming
- 2027 colors: soft greens, grayed blues and warm earth tones, from more than a dozen paint brands.
- The timeless Venetian plaster palette: color families that have lasted more than 25 years while fads came and went.
- Stone veneer trends: warm neutrals, travertine, Japandi charcoal and backlit translucent stone.
- Plaster + stone pairings: which stone works with each plaster color.
Why lime marble plaster is back
Lime marble plaster is made from aged lime and crushed marble, troweled on by hand in thin coats. Clients want walls that show that craft: visible trowel marks, gentle movement and color that changes with the light. Lime is also breathable and VOC-free. And in Mexico, it’s a finish with centuries of tradition in haciendas and colonial homes. Thin stone veneer brings real slate and quartzite to fireplaces, feature walls and curved surfaces without the weight of traditional stone.
Our lime marble plaster finishes
- Veneziano (polished lime marble plaster): deep, moody colors for entries, powder rooms and range hoods
- Marmorino: a soft sandstone texture in warm earth tones that look like cantera or travertine
- Lime wash: airy whites and herbal greens for whole rooms, ceilings and exteriors
- Wet areas: our waterproof system of three lime-based marble plasters for showers, tub surrounds and baths
- Natural stone veneer: real stone accents that pair with any plaster color
